Erev Rosh Hashanah 2011

The Tribe hosted the local 20s-30s community for an Erev Rosh Hashanah experience at the Jewish Museum of Florida. Over 150 people enjoyed a service led by Rabbi Amy Morrison, then stayed for a few hours to socialize over appetizers and wine. It was an amazing experience, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of Synagogue 3000, Next Dor, The Greater Miami jewish federation and the Network, and Birthright Israel NEXT. Book Club August 2011

On August 28, 2011, Dr. Ron Wolfson joined our book club via video chat to discuss his book, “The Seven Questions You’re Asked in Heaven.” We had a fascinating discussion over bagels and coffee! Click here to see photos from this event.

Shabbat August 2011

On August 12th, 2011, The Tribe hosted an intimate Shabbat service at Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach. We had a beautiful musical experience in the synagogue’s welcome center, followed by a lovely Oneg. Click here to see photos from the event.

Sunset Soiree

On July 23rd 2011, The Tribe hosted a Summer Soiree at a beautiful water-front mansion in Coconut Grove. Rabbi Amy Morrison led the group in Havdalah, followed by wine pairing by famous sommelier Micheal Bittel, and some delicious hors d’oeuvres. A wonderful time was had by all! Shabbat on the Beach

On May 13 2011, The Tribe hosted over 40 participants for Shabbat on the Beach. We had some ice-breakers, did some singing, lit the candles, and enjoyed challah, wine, cheese, veggies and desserts! Click here to see photos from the event.

Kayak Havdalah

On April 16th, 2011, The Tribe hosted our 2nd Kayak Havdalah experience. 32 Tribesters kayaking along Oleta State River Park and stopped along the way for a Havdalah service and a bonfire with hot dogs and smores! Click here to see photos

Yoga on the Beach

On April 3rd, 2011, The Tribe hosted our first ever Yoga on The Beach. Led by a Tribe member/Yoga guru, the group had an amazing time with beautiful scenery. Rabbi Pomerantz was on hand to lend some Jewish spiritual guidance in our yoga experience. Click here to see photos from the event.

Passover Cooking Class

On March 27th, 2011, The Tribe co-hosted a passover cooking class. We hired a local chef in our demographic to guide 20 aspiring cooks in preparing a variety of yummy Passover dishes! After the cooking was over, we enjoyed our fine meal with some wine! Our cooking classes are always popular and we’re looking to increase their frequency. Click here to see photos from the event.

Purim Party 2011

On March 19th, 2011, The Tribe hosted a “Pour ‘Em” Poolside Costume Party at the Catalina Hotel in South Beach. Attendees enjoyed appetizers, vodka drinks and hamentashen while enjoying the beautiful setting. Click here to see the photos from the event.

Mitzvah Day 2011

On January 23rd, 2011, The Tribe hosted 20 children from Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Greater Miami at Lucky Strike Bowling Lanes for bowling and a pizza party. The event was part of Temple Beth Sholom’s annual Mitzvah Day. Click here to see the pictures from the event.

The Tribe Poker Night

On November 10th 2010, The Tribe hosted its 2nd Poker Night, in the Upstairs Lounge of Burger & Beer Joint in South Beach. We started the night with a beginner’s lesson for those new to poker. We had a 3-table tournament, accompanied by beer, sliders and corn dogs. The winner – someone who never played poker before!!! Click here to see pictures from the night.

Vodka Latke Party

On December 8th, 2010, The Tribe co-hosted our annual Latke Vodka at Meat Market on Lincoln Road in South Beach. We had over 100 people enjoy signature Chanukah vodka drinks and gourmet latkes! Click here to see the pictures from the event.

The Trice Ice Cream Social

On October 26th, The Tribe hosted an Ice Cream Social at The Frieze off of Lincoln Road in South Beach. 25 members enjoyed ice cream and got to know each other in perfect Miami fall weather. The South Florida Community Blood Center was also on hand to enable Tribesters to have their cheeks swabbed to get on the National Bone Marrow Registry, and to donate blood. A special thanks to THE FRIEZE for donating 25% of their revenues from the entire evening to The Tribe! Click here to see photos from the event!

The Tribe Shabbat on the Beach

On October 22nd, 2010, The Tribe hosted 35 young adults for Moonlight Shabbat on the Beach. Rabbi Davis led us through a beautiful service during which we got to know each other and reflect on the week’s Torah portion. The Tribe Kol Nidre Event

On September 17th, The Tribe hosted 92 people in theirs 20s and 30s for a free Kol Nidrei service at the South Florida Jewish Museum. Rabbinic Intern Laila Haas led the beautiful service, punctuated by wonderful music from a 3-piece orchestra. Click here to see photos from the event and here to see video from the night.

The Tribe High Holiday Event

On Wednesday, September 8, The Tribe gathered at the Jewish Museum on Miami Beach to celebrate Erev Rosh Hashanah. Click here to see photos from the event.

Tribe Cooking Class

On August 29th, The Tribe hosted a cooking class at a private home in Miami Beach. Chef Jackie Packar walked us through preparing a six-course meal in preparation for Rosh Hashanah! We all made new friends while learning some new cooking skills! Click here to see photos from the event.

Tribe at Mokai

On August 7, The Tribe hosted a party at Mokai, a nightclub in South Beach. We had open bar for 1.5 hours and almost 100 people! As can be seen in the pictures here, we had a great time! Click here to see images from the night.

Tribe Book Club: Meeting 4

On Sunday, July 25th, The Tribe Hosted our 4th Book Club meeting. This time, we read Alan Dershowitz’s “The case Against Israel’s Enemies”. We had a lively and wide-ranging discussion, during which we all learned new things from each other. We meet again in October, to discuss “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union”. Tribe Poker Night

On Sunday July 18, 2010, The Tribe hosted its first ever poker tournament at Burger N’ Beer Joint on Miami Beach. After a brief tutorial for the novices, we had three tables of nine participants at each table, and an eventual “Champion’s Table” of eight. As the night wore on (and participants were plied with appetizers and beer), only the strong (and lucky) survived to the final table — including some people who played for the first time! Congrats to Marc Hurwitz who not only helped organized the tournament, but emerged as the winner, and to Jason Feder who won 2nd place.
